A New Glimpse (Short stories from south India)

In a translation venture, faithful rendering of the original text is more often ‘an aspiration beyond reach’, than a feat accomplished. It is generally agreed upon hat mere technical virtuosity is not enough for a good translation, for besides the correct conveying of linguistic nuances, it has to mediate, for the benefit of the readers, as much as possible of the author’s mindset, his milieu and his main narrative concern.
